Welcome Families!
Whether you’re still in school or raising a family of your own, everyone needs a healthy mind and a strong body. Since healthy habits start at home, this new section highlights small steps that you and your family can take that can have positive results over the longer term—ranging from increased longevity to better performance in school or at work.
Take The Magic Step hopes to inspire you and your loved ones to get healthier with our philosophy that the steps we take today can make us better tomorrow. The first step is to imagine which parts of your life you would like to change, and then to rethink the reasons you feel are holding you back from reaching these goals. Changing any aspect of your life begins with changing the way you think, because your thoughts create your actions, and your actions create your life.
As one of the most accomplished marathoners of her generation, our founder, Uta Pippig, learned first-hand that a healthy mind and body aren’t the result of quick fixes, but rather of small and gradual lifestyle changes made over time with consistency, determination, and patience. The key is to incorporate little healthy habits—like a little more sleep or a little less soda—into your own and your family’s daily routine so that you can all achieve lasting fitness.
The articles you’ll find in this section contain ideas and information categorized in the five core areas of our philosophy: inspiration, nutrition, exercise, yoga, and health maintenance. They contain practical ideas that can help you start making better choices today. You’ll also discover a section called “Dad’s Corner,” which focuses on activities of special interest to those who are young (or young at heart!).
It’s never too early or too late to become aware that the choices you make throughout the day can help you achieve a lifetime of better fitness and health. You may even discover that a warm evening stroll can be refreshing—as well as healthy—and that eating well can actually be fun!
